Successful online home business entrepreneurs are generally people who do the simple things very well. These are people who are able to focus on what needs to be done and not get sidetracked.

1. Make a plan. This does not have to be anything elaborate. As a matter of fact the simpler you keep it the more likely you are to stick to it.

You certainly need a plan for promoting your products online. This is where the majority of your time will be spent once you have your website built and monetized.

Successful entrepreneurs understand you can always make adjustments to your plan. Think of yourself as a coach who needs to make game time adjustments if they expect to win.

2. Set goals. You should have a long-term goal for what you hope to achieve with your business.

You can then break that down into smaller goals. One of the most important goals you will set is your daily to do list.

This is really where most successful businesses are built. People who complete their daily to do list, and start a new list for tomorrow, are the ones who move their business forward and make money online.

3. Track results. There are many excellent tools for tracking results.

Certainly you want to know how much money you are making. I have found that if I jot it down on a daily basis it helps me keep focused on what is important in my business.

You also want to track the results are getting from your advertising. Whether it's paid advertising, or free advertising, you still need to know how many website visitors you're getting and where they are coming from.

Google analytics is an excellent tool to help you with this. It's free to join and easy to add to any website.

4. Focus on sales. It is easy to get sidetracked in the day to day details of running an online business.

However your real goal is how many sales are you making. Once your online marketing is generating adequate traffic you can really focus on your conversion rate.

You do not necessarily need a lot of visitors to have a high conversion rate. This will all depend on the niche you are in and the quality of the traffic you're getting.
